About The Position

This program provides an exceptional development opportunity for Registered Nurses (RNs) currently working in post-acute care or RNs with an active license seeking to return to practice or launch their career in acute care. The fellowship includes specialty classroom training, simulation experience, hands-on practice in the clinical environment, and bi-monthly seminars focused on professional growth, evidenced-based practices, and leadership. A two (2) year commitment as a Full-Time employee with the Memorial Healthcare System is required.

Requirements

  • Must be a new graduate with less than six (6) months as an Acute Care Registered Nurse or less than twelve (12) months as a Non-Acute Care Registered Nurse.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program within the last twelve (12) months or no more than twelve (12) months of Non-Acute Care RN experience or less than 6 months of Acute Care RN experience.
  • RN Fellowship Refresh to Acute Care Track requires an ineligibility for Nurse Residency Program including graduation from an accredited nursing program over twelve (12) months before hire or a three (3) year period of non-practicing acute care experience.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral and spiritual, psychosocial support needs.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
  • May precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
