About The Position

The RN - ER/Emergency Room position is in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The role provides general emergency department care for combined adult and pediatric patients in a non-trauma emergency department. First-time travelers are accepted. The position works night shifts, with 36- or 48-hour schedules, and requires working every other weekend (two weekends in a four-week posted schedule). Experience with a 1:5 patient ratio is required. Unit orientation is 24 hours.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience.
• Experience with a 1:5 patient ratio.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC.

Nice To Haves

• CPI certification.
• TCAR certification.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure.
• Administer blood products.
• Provide central line care and management.
• Perform phlebotomy and start IVs.
• Provide continuous IV sedation and administer IV vasopressors.
• Care for patients with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and orthopedic trauma.
• Care for patients with abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, infections, respiratory infections, seizures, urinary tract infections, and mental or behavioral health conditions.
• Identify and report abuse.
• Care for ventilated patients and patients with gunshot wounds or traumatic amputations.
