Requirements

  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
  • Registered Nurses must possess the ability to assess, plan, direct, intervene and evaluate patient care
  • The RN must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written
  • MINIMUM of 1 year of RN Acute Surgical/Endo experience required
  • BLS Required.
  • ACLS required (Can be provided during orientation)
  • Telemetry Training (Can be acquired during orientation)

Responsibilities

  • Utilize assessment skills and knowledge base to prep patients for procedures.
  • Plan patient care post-op, including spiritual, emotional, and physiological needs.
  • Assist with basic Endoscopy procedures such as Colonoscopy and EGD’s.
  • Assist with more advanced therapeutic procedures that prevent patients from having surgery for mass removal and swallowing disorders, and other interventions that treat/diagnose common GI ailments such as reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, and removal of Colon Polyps.
  • Assist and administer moderate sedation.
  • On call availability 1 weekday night every other week.
  • On call availability 1 weekend every 6-7 weeks (based on coverage).
