The Emergency Department RN is responsible for performing comprehensive nursing assessments and triage of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. They prioritize patient care, develop and implement individualized plans of care, administer medications and treatments, and monitor patient responses. This role involves caring for patients across the lifespan and assisting with emergency procedures such as trauma resuscitation, stroke alerts, and code blue responses. The RN also collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate timely patient evaluation, treatment, admission, transfer, or discharge, ensuring efficient patient flow and accurate documentation. Patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, and discharge instructions is a key component, as is adherence to infection prevention, safety protocols, and quality improvement initiatives. The position requires strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple patients in high-stress situations. The RN must uphold the hospital's mission, vision, and values while providing compassionate, safe, high-quality care.
