About The Position

We are looking for positive, self-motivated, engaged and excited for growth individuals to join our team. This is a 38 bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day that present with various acuities. We are a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility that is able to intervene and administer thrombolytics. We have two helicopter pads on campus for utilization. We have 5 PODs in our department, depending on acuity, is where the patient will be assigned. We have a Behavioral Health Pod. We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care. All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a nursing program
  • No experience required
  • New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable
  • ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days
  • ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days
  • CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred
  • ACLS and PALS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification. within 180 Days
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification – prior to independent chemotherapy administration Upon Hire
  • PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) PEARS or PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Athens Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days
  • ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) OR – BLS required only within 180 Days
  • Labor and Delivery-ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) NRP by the end of orientation period, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date Mother/Baby- NRP by the end of orientation period NICU- NRP by the end of orientation period NAT (Newborn Admission Team)- NRP by the end of orientation period Nursery- NRP by the end of orientation period within 180 Days

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintains standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
  • Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • Communications issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
