About The Position

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center is seeking a positive, self-motivated, and growth-oriented individual to join their Emergency Department team. This is a full-time evening position with three 12-hour shifts per week, from 11 am to 11 pm. The Emergency Department is a 38-bed unit that averages 160 patient visits per day, handling a variety of acuities. It is a primary Stroke and STEMI receiving facility equipped to administer thrombolytics, with two helicopter pads on campus. The department utilizes a POD system based on patient acuity, including a dedicated Behavioral Health Pod. The team consists of Charge Nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians, and Unit Secretaries who collaborate with ED Providers to deliver exceptional care. All staff members are required to have BLS certification to work in this unit.

Requirements

  • All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit.
  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
  • Functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintains standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
  • Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
  • Appropriately evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs.
  • Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
