About The Position

The Emergency Department is a 41 bed, Level II Trauma Center, Level II Stroke Center, & Level I STEMI Center. It sees more than 45,000 annual visits and is staffed 24/7 with Residency-trained, Board Certified Emergency Physicians as well as Physicians, Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. The BHAT – Behavioral Health Assessment Team provides Psychiatry consulting services on a full-time basis in the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department is well established in the region as a heart care leader and has attained world-class ranking in door to balloon times well into the 90th percentile.

Requirements

  • AHA ACLS within 180 days.
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
  • AHA PALS Provider within 365 days.
  • ASLS - Advanced Stroke Life Support within 180 days.
  • CardioVascular Disease CEU hours - 4 per year annually by transcript due date.
  • Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
  • FEMA NIMS courses within 90 days of hire: IS-00100.c Introduction to Incident Command System, ICS-100 and IS-00700.b An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
  • Helicopter Safety within 90 days.
  • If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 180 days.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) within 180 days.
  • RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.
  • Stroke CEU Hours - 4 per year annually by transcript due date.
  • Trauma CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 365 days.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the medical plan of care, independently performs systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families; plans and implements appropriate interventions; and evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner in the provision of safe and effective care.
