About The Position

Meritus is seeking a dedicated RN for their Emergency Department. This role is part of an elite team committed to excellence in emergency care, innovation, and compassionate patient-centered service. The Emergency Department is a MIEMSS Designated Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and Cardiac Interventional Center, providing advanced emergency care to approximately 72,000 patients annually. The department specializes in the emergency treatment and stabilization of a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries for both adult and pediatric patients, including multi-system trauma, life-threatening medical conditions, general medical-surgical emergencies, orthopedic and neurological injuries, minor trauma, and psychiatric crises. RNs in the ED will benefit from a collaborative and innovative academic environment, working alongside physicians and emergency medicine experts. The facility is an award-winning institution with several designations and awards, including a Silver Beacon of Excellence in Critical Care Unit, Certified Primary Stroke Center, MIEMSS designated Cardiac Intervention Center, and a Silver Quality Achievement Award for STEMI patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • ASN required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must possess a high level of organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy.
  • Provide advanced emergency care and stabilization for a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries.
  • Care for adult and pediatric patients with multi-system trauma, life-threatening medical conditions, general medical-surgical emergencies, orthopedic and neurological injuries, minor trauma, and psychiatric crises.
  • Collaborate with physicians, trauma surgeons, and emergency medicine experts.
  • Participate in specialized training opportunities, including TNCC and ENPC certifications.
  • Provide specialized care for victims of violence through the forensic nurse program.
