Akron General’s Level I Emergency Department offers the technology, expertise and staffing necessary to treat all injuries, regardless of severity. As an RN in this unit, you will gain extensive hands-on experience and exposure from a fast-paced and highly trained team of caregivers. This position offers you endless opportunities to enhance your skills and grow as a nurse.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
• External applicants: two years of recent experience in an acute care setting
• Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
• Will consider military RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within one year of hire
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Critical Care/Emergency Department experience

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
