About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the MedSurg and ICU Department is responsible for defining the characteristics needed to perform successfully. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Registered Nurse Director of Emergency Department is the line of authority. The role requires adherence to standards of behavior, professionalism, and self-development. The position involves providing care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Key responsibilities include assessing patient status, interpreting data relative to age-specific needs, and providing necessary care. The nurse must be able to handle emergency situations promptly and professionally, maintain accurate nursing documentation, and meet all competency, license, certification, and education requirements. Maintaining current knowledge of medications and their administration, meeting charge nurse expectations when assigned, and demonstrating professional behavior and guest services are also crucial. The role involves monitoring hemodynamic status, performing head-to-toe assessments, preparing and administering IV fluids, and maintaining a professional environment. The nurse will also perform other duties and innovations as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least one year Registered Nurse experience within the last 24 months and acute critical experience within the last 12 months or EMT and ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years experience & in good standing.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
  • Evidence of current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • All associates receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply.
  • Must conform with all HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations as required by the job, department, or hospital.

Nice To Haves

  • MICN desired to be completed within one year of hire.
  • NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged and recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients/individuals served.
  • Demonstrates and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients/individuals status and interpret relative to his age-specific needs, and to provide the care/service needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.
  • Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his or her clinical condition.
  • Meets charge nurse expectations as assigned.
  • Meets professional behavior expectations and guest services expectations.
  • Monitors hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
  • Nursing documentation must reflect comprehensive understanding of the nursing process.
  • Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations.
  • Prepares, administers, monitors and discontinues IV fluids.
  • Provides a professional environment and professional appearance while on hospital grounds.
  • Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
