About The Position

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED/ER) to join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin. This role is part of a department that is the only healthcare system in Wisconsin offering Level I Trauma Care for adults and children and a Burn and Wound Center, as verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The department consists of 40 acute care adult rooms, 11 Pediatric rooms, three multi-purpose procedure rooms, and three Behavioral Health “Safe” rooms. It is fully equipped with three Major Trauma rooms and a Pediatric Resuscitation room to facilitate the care of the critically ill or injured adult and pediatric patient. A new CareSTART area is open during peak times to expedite the intake process and allow for patient care to begin sooner, where an RN and physician see the patient on arrival and care can begin immediately.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • CPR certification Upon Hire Required
  • 6 months of RN experience Required
  • ACLS within 6 months Required
  • PALS within 6 months Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
  • 1 year of ICU, Critical Care, or Emergency Department experience with adult and/or pediatric populations Preferred
  • TNCC Preferred
  • ENPC Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for critically ill or injured adult and pediatric patients.
  • Expedite intake process and begin patient care immediately in the CareSTART area.
  • Work in a department with acute care adult rooms, Pediatric rooms, multi-purpose procedure rooms, and Behavioral Health “Safe” rooms.
  • Utilize Major Trauma rooms and a Pediatric Resuscitation room for critical care.
  • Adhere to acuity based staffing ratios for optimal safety.
  • Participate in a strong shared governance structure.
