About The Position

This role involves utilizing the nursing process to provide patient care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The RN will collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate medical and nursing management, perform emergency treatments, maintain documentation, communicate effectively, and promote patient and staff safety. The position also includes overseeing care delivery, staffing needs, and adapting to changes in workload while maintaining quality care.

Ability to conduct full body system analysis
Ability to administer and perform nursing assessment in accordance with applicable patient type (Acute, Observation, ER, SNF, Outpatient)
Ability to review, discuss, and implement health care provider orders appropriately
Ability to respond to call lights and patient needs in a timely fashion
Ability to recognize abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition, establish priorities, and take appropriate action
Ability to serve as a patient advocate
Ability to perform patient rounding for all patient assignments
Ability to evaluate patient progress toward desired outcomes prior to discharge
Ability to demonstrate personal accountability in the delivery of patient care in a competent, professional, and compassionate manner
Ability to provide intravenous interventions
Ability to promote team concept through effective communication
Ability to work effectively with ancillary areas
Ability to direct patient support team members effectively and appropriately
Ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility in the provision of patient care
Ability to inform and involve Lead Nurse or Nurse Manager regarding patient care issues
Ability to assist in making patient assignments, coordinating admissions, and meeting staffing needs for unit
Ability to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
Ability to complete patient and family education throughout the patient’s stay and at discharge
Ability to initiate or assist in patient care in an effective and responsive manner
Ability to triage each emergency situation appropriately and involve other resources as appropriate
Ability to administer and perform emergent care in accordance with the applicable patient population type
Ability to follow emergency policies, procedures and protocols
Ability to document accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status
Ability to complete shift end check prior to leaving duty
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other health team members

Ability to administer medications, treatments and procedures in a timely and safe manner

Responsibilities

Utilizes the nursing process for patient care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Performs complete admission and comprehensive nursing assessments.
Administers and performs nursing assessments in accordance with applicable patient types (Acute, Observation, ER, SNF, Outpatient).
Reviews and implements healthcare provider orders, questioning when necessary.
Responds to call lights and patient needs promptly.
Recognizes and responds to changes in patient condition, establishing priorities and taking appropriate action.
Serves as a patient advocate and performs patient rounding.
Evaluates patient progress towards desired outcomes before discharge.
Demonstrates accountability, competence, professionalism, and compassion in patient care delivery.
Provides intravenous interventions.
Collaborates with healthcare providers to coordinate medical and nursing management.
Promotes team concept through effective communication regarding patient condition, care plan, and satisfaction.
Works effectively with ancillary areas and directs patient support team members.

Informs Lead Nurse or Nurse Manager of patient care issues.

Administers and performs emergent care for various patient populations (newborn to geriatrics).
Follows emergency policies, procedures, and protocols.
Performs and maintains accurate and ongoing documentation of patient status, interventions, responses, teaching, and discharge outcomes.
Completes shift end check prior to leaving duty.
Communicates and collaborates effectively with other health team members regarding patient condition, nursing plan of care, and patient satisfaction.
Follows approved shift report format.
Promotes and ensures patient and staff safety in all aspects of responsibilities.
Administers medications, treatments, and procedures safely and timely, using two patient identifiers and performing risk assessments.
Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer, and lifting techniques.
Implements infectious disease controls, including isolation procedures and proper hand hygiene.
