The RN Education Coordinator serves as the primary educator for new staff within their entity and collaborates with unit preceptors. This role is crucial for onboarding new employees and new graduate nurses, providing support through programs like the new grad support group and the preceptor group. The coordinator conducts educational needs assessments, develops programs based on identified needs, and identifies clinical learning needs through various methods such as observation, staff meetings, and data analysis. They work with unit leadership to create an annual educational calendar, promote clinical ladder advancement, and assist staff in achieving national certification. The position involves participating in unit-based meetings, implementing innovative instructional methods, coordinating outside consultants and trainers, and maintaining class evaluations. Additionally, the RN Education Coordinator assists directors and clinical nurse specialists, obtains CEUs, collaborates on monthly newsletters, facilitates Evidence Based Practice initiatives, and coordinates education across different components of the health system. They are a member of the house-wide Education Team, collaborate on annual nursing documentation and skills fairs, and plan/host unit-based skills validations. The role also includes coordinating and participating in teaching programs within their areas of expertise and assisting in writing/updating policies and procedures, as well as maintaining records for mandatory staff certifications.
