About The Position

Hampton Behavioral Health Center is a private behavioral healthcare center offering advanced behavioral health and diagnostic treatment services for adults, adolescents, and older adults through inpatient and outpatient programs. The center is committed to excellence in diagnosis, treatment, and education. This is a Part Time Registered Nurse position in the ECT suite, working on procedures days which are Monday, Wednesday, or Fridays from 6 AM to 2 PM. There is flexibility in scheduling, no required number of shifts, and the center is closed on all holidays. Hampton offers Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) on both an inpatient and outpatient basis for clients meeting standard protocols. The ECT program is a successful treatment option for various mental illnesses when other interventions are not safe or effective. Hampton Behavioral Health Center features a state-of-the-art ECT suite.

Requirements

  • Current New Jersey RN licensure
  • Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric nursing experience, or two (2) years of ICU experience
  • BLS and ACLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN/BS preferred
  • ANA Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout his/her ECT experience.
  • Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.
  • Provide patient education during all phases of the patient’s experience in ECT.
  • Ensure that the proper supplies and equipment are available.
  • Identify actual and potential risks to patients and others. Take action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety in the facility.
  • Review the patient chart and health history to assure that the necessary ECT evaluations have been completed. Ensure that consent form has been signed.
  • Prepare patients for ECT by providing ongoing information to the patient and his/her caregiver to assure that they understand all procedures and feel as comfortable as possible.
  • Perform nursing assessment of patient, start IV and ordered medications.
  • Communicate with other health care team members to assure continuity of care.
