This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Critical Care Unit (ICU) at Advocate South Suburban Hospital. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, with the ability to administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential, as is fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The role also demands pursuit of professional development, completion of required education, and maintenance of certifications, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics and practicing ethical decision-making. The nurse will delegate appropriately to other healthcare professionals and maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation. Floating to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area may be required to meet patient care needs. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding growth and development principles and assessing data reflective of patient status and age-specific needs.
