About The Position

The Critical Care New Graduate RN Residency Program in the Intensive Care Unit at Geneva General Hospital is designed to help newly licensed nurses transition from nursing school into professional practice. Residents receive education, clinical experience, mentorship, and support while caring for critically ill patients with complex medical conditions in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. They work alongside experienced ICU nurses and healthcare providers and develop specialized skills for close patient monitoring, advanced interventions, and critical decision-making. The program includes a comprehensive orientation and structured critical care training, mentorship from experienced ICU nurses and preceptors, and hands-on experience with critically ill patients. Residents develop assessment, prioritization, critical-thinking, clinical judgment, and rapid decision-making skills; learn continuous monitoring and recognition of clinical deterioration; and gain exposure to critical care interventions and patient stabilization. They collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team and receive ongoing support as they transition toward independent practice. The environment emphasizes teamwork, professional development, and patient safety. The position is full-time at Geneva General Hospital in Geneva, New York, with a start date of August 2027. Eligible new graduates may qualify for the RN New Graduate Incentive Program; financial incentives depend on program eligibility and applicable employment commitments.
