About The Position

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a Full Time RN for their Surgical Vascular Surgery unit, located in the St. Matthews area. This position is for the First Shift. The role involves providing Pre/Post Op nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgery, completing and documenting patient assessments, and developing individualized plans of care and education. The RN will collaborate with the inter-professional team, implement nursing actions safely and timely, utilize appropriate technology, and manage emergency situations. Responsibilities also include preparing patients for procedures, setting up sterile procedure rooms, monitoring patients during procedures, and assisting the surgeon during sterile procedures. Requirements

  • Associate's degree - ASN required
  • RN License required
  • BLS required

Nice To Haves

  • RN surgical experience preferred
  • If no surgical experience, RN will need to take peri-op 101 course within 8 weeks (60 days) post hire.

Responsibilities

  • Completes and documents initial and ongoing patient assessments based on population served
  • Provides Pre/Post Op nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgery
  • Establishes specific, realistic and measurable goals
  • Develops an individualized plan of care/education for each patient/family upon admission
  • Initiates and participates in transitions of care in collaboration with hospital and community resources
  • Collaborates with inter-professional team and updates plan appropriately
  • Implements nursing actions in a safe, timely manner
  • Utilizes appropriate technology to provide safe care
  • Exercises clinical reasoning in care delivery
  • Implements physician orders in a timely manner
  • Manages emergency situations appropriately

  • Practices safe medication handling and administration
