About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking an experienced RN Clinical Supervisor - Emergency (Full Time - Nights). The RN Clinical Supervisor – Emergency Department is responsible for providing clinical leadership and operational oversight for the Emergency Department during assigned shifts. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting staff, optimizing patient flow, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Clinical Supervisor serves as a resource for clinical decision-making and collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and hospital administration to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia (or eligibility to obtain prior to hire).
  • BLS Certification required.
  • ACLS Certification required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • TNCC preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to Emergency Department nursing staff during assigned shifts.
  • Serve as the clinical resource for complex patient care situations, emergencies, and critical decision-making.
  • Promote evidence-based nursing practice and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure patient care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with professional nursing standards.
  • Assist with management of trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, behavioral health, and other emergency patient populations.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments based on patient acuity, census, and staff competency.
  • Monitor department workflow, patient throughput, and bed utilization to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with inpatient units, Patient Placement, Environmental Services, and ancillary departments to facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Assist in managing departmental resources, equipment, and supply utilization.
  • Participate in daily leadership huddles and communicate operational priorities.
  • Promote compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Partner with the Patient Experience team to resolve service recovery opportunities.
  • Assist the Nurse Manager with scheduling, payroll review, staffing plans, and departmental operations.
  • Participate in departmental committees and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and regulatory records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
