About The Position

The clinical nurse coordinator coordinates patient care with responsibilities including phone triage, prescription refills, physician communications, scheduling tests and procedures and is the face of the office for patients and their families. Attention to detail and a sense of advocacy is necessary. This is a M-F position with typical clinic hours. Siteman South County is conveniently located at Highway 55 and Butler Hill Road. We provide injectable and intravenous administration of medication, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and blood products to Oncology and Hematology patients. We also perform various procedures on site such as bone marrow biopsies, therapeutic phlebotomies, intravesicular and hepatic arterial administration of chemotherapy.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree In Nursing Or Diploma In Registered Nursing
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Registered Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Nursing (2 Years)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of nursing experience.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act.
  • Basic Life Support Certification or obtains certification within one month of employment. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients; completes health history and physical examination on patients; conveys findings to physician.
  • Coordinates patient care orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, attends inpatient rounds, coordinates patient appointments and assists with referrals to outside sources.
  • Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance.
  • Acts as liaison and team leader by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.
