The RN Clinical Mentor will be assigned to each Critical Care unit to provide education, support and direction to staff at the bedside. This role serves as a clinical resource for staff within the Critical Care Division, collaborating with other departments to oversee educational needs. This includes in-service, competencies, bedside training, and classroom training. The mentor provides support to new employees at the unit level, assigns preceptors, and follows up to ensure employees receive the necessary training for high-quality patient care. They also identify and resolve issues, facilitate Skills Fairs for Critical Care nurses and techs, and assess, plan, develop content, coordinate, implement, and evaluate educational needs for each Critical Care unit. This includes assisting with action plans for areas of concern and educating team members on preventive measures for adverse events like CAUTIs, CLABSIs, pressure injuries, and falls, thereby improving quality outcomes. The mentor also participates in hospital-wide committees as the Critical Care subject matter expert.
