About The Position

Inova Fairfax Medical Center is seeking an RN Clinical Mentor to work with its Family Centered Care/Postpartum team. The role focuses on training, coaching, and mentoring nursing staff to promote and deliver high-quality nursing care. The Clinical Mentor supports nurses and preceptors through transitions into practice and the work environment, and helps address team members’ clinical and social adjustment needs. The position also participates in designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs that promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Two years of progressive nursing experience in the designated specialty.
• Three months of experience serving as a preceptor.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, or an active multistate RN license.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching, and mentoring staff to promote and deliver high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate, and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and the ability to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
• Support novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to help ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills, and experience to meet team members’ clinical and social adjustment needs.
• Participate in the design, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs that promote clinical development and career progression for new or existing clinicians.
