About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington is hiring a Registered Nurse Clinical Coordinator/Supervisor for our Pre-Op/PACU/PAIN Departments. This 38-bed hospital, established in 2010, is the only specialized facility of its kind in the DFW Metroplex, focusing on orthopedic and spine care. It is a joint venture between United Surgical Partners International, local physicians, and Baylor Scott & White, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission, licensed by the state of Texas, and has received the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Customer Service Award. The role involves direct supervision under the Director of PREOP/PACU/PAIN and PAT, responsible for staff assignments, ensuring efficient patient flow, and disseminating information between management and staff. Responsibilities include implementing care plans, physician orders, patient evaluation, safety, comfort, and privacy. The role may also involve assisting physicians with procedures, conscious sedation, and sterile techniques. The pre-op nurse ensures continuity and quality nursing care, while the pain management nurse preps patients and assists with procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a hospital setting
  • Current Texas Nursing License
  • Current CPR, ACLS, PALS required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organization habits
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
  • Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
  • Excellent teaching skills

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years PACU experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Appropriate staff assignments
  • Assure an organized flow of patients through the Pre-op, PACU & PAIN in an efficient and timely manner
  • Dissemination of information from management to the Pre-op, PACU & PAIN staff and from the Pre-op/PACU/PAIN staff to management
  • Implementing the Post Anesthesia Care record, nursing care plan and the assimilation of the patient’s hospital record
  • Implementing all physicians order
  • Providing for the continual evaluation of the patients’ condition
  • Providing patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times
  • Assist the physicians in procedures and with various tasks, conscious sedation and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate
  • Providing for the continuity and quality nursing care for all patients
  • Prepping patients for their procedures
  • Rotating into the circulating role to assist the pain physician’s with procedures in the procedure room while maintain accurate documentation throughout the procedure
