About The Position

Located in Lakewood, Colorado, St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center providing a full range of medical specialties and health care services. We are a state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life Colorado. Our facility includes four trauma rooms, a dedicated field-to-surgery suite ready 24/7 for trauma surgeons and specially trained teams, enabling us to provide life-saving care to severely ill and injured patients. In 2023, we achieved Magnet designation, an honor awarded to only 10 percent of hospitals globally. We have also received numerous awards and certifications from organizations such as the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, The Joint Commission, Emergency Nurses Association, NAPBC, and American College of Radiology. Requirements

  • At least six months of direct RN experience.
  • Previous OR Experience (1 year minimum).
  • Previous Heart Team/CVOR experience.
  • RN License to practice in the state of employment.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (Nursing Diploma or by endorsement).
  • Medium Work physical requirements (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Leadership Experience.
  • BSN.
  • Nursing Specialty Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support the department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit.
  • Serve as a clinical nurse and resource to the staff, not as a supervisor or manager.
  • Authorize work procedures and assign duties.
  • Perform shift charge duties.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and ensure high-quality care delivery to each patient.
  • Act as a vital link between physicians and the patient care team to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain communication and promote cooperation with unit staff and other departments.
  • Provide input and recommendations to the director/manager on coaching, mentoring, and performance management of associates.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
  • Act as a professional role model for all staff by demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing.
  • Promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Actively serve on the unit as a registered nurse and may take patient assignments based on unit and patient needs and acuity.
  • Be personally accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
  • Run the front desk in the OR.
  • Ensure assignments for staff meet the daily need.
  • Schedule the next day’s assignments.
  • Communicate case changes to staff.
  • Support and coach staff to build confidence and growth.
  • Hold staff accountable to policy and high standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with the lead Anesthesiologist on daily case flow and efficiency.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs/practices for department associates.
  • Act as leadership within the department to support staff, Manager, and Director.
  • Cover the heart team.
  • Be used on occasion to help out in the rest of the OR.
  • Perform clinical duties, taking over rooms when coming in and any add-ons throughout the night.
  • Prep rooms for next day's cases when no surgeries are going on.
  • Act as a department resource when needed.
  • Participate in rotating call, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with a 30-minute callback radius.
