About The Position

Acts as a collaborative member of the clinic team in providing continuity of and quality patient care. Assesses and provides appropriate intervention for the problems that patients and families experience related to their health care and treatment to include teaching, counseling and supporting as needed to assist provider, patient and family. Also acts as lead clinician in assistance to provider and/or as dedicated telephone assistant.

Requirements

  • Current Alabama RN license or a current RN multi-state license
  • Minimum of one year clinic experience in direct patient care setting.
  • Venipuncture and skilled injection required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
  • Must be able to use computer terminal, fax machine and copy machine.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses problems/conditions requiring visit and accurately documents in medical records.
  • Greet and screens patient for appropriate information, preparing for examination by provider.
  • Assists provider in examination, treatment and referral of patient, preparing necessary paperwork, equipment, etc.
  • Initiates testing ordered by provider, to include completion of paperwork and scheduling of appointments.
  • Gives injections to patients.
  • Assists in patient education.
  • Maintains medical record entries and provides oversight of medical record content.
  • Assists in referral management and tracking.
  • Calls prescription information as necessary and under direction of provider.
  • Maintains appropriate level of medical supplies and drugs, to include inventorying and ordering.
  • Develops and maintains a useful documentation system for care that complies with JCAHO and quality management requirements.
  • Performs x-rays under the direction supervision of the physician.
  • Conducts the nursing assessments on all patients: psychosocial, mobility, barriers to learning, nutrition and pain.
