About The Position
Provides professional nursing care for office patients following established standards and procedures. Huntsville Hospital was recently named Best Regional Hospital and #2 in Alabama by U.S. News & World Report. With 971 beds, a specialized Orthopedic & Spine Tower, a Level III Regional Neonatal ICU, and the largest Emergency Department and Level 1 Trauma Center in the state with its own specialized Red Shirt Trauma Program, there are many opportunities to apply knowledge and skills. The hospital is a certified Primary Stroke Center and named "One of the Top 100 Hospitals in the Nation with Great Heart Programs." It features six cath labs and four EP labs, and multiple medical and step-down units for continuous skill development. The hospital offers a training center on campus for continuing education, a Shared Governance Program, a Clinical Ladder for professional development, The Daisy Award, and a Nurse Residency Program for new graduates.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Possess a current Alabama State Registered Nurses License
- Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care
- Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
- Skill in writing and maintaining records and reports
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, employees, and staff
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions in order to maintain a safe working environment
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures
- Upholds effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability, and promptness
