About The Position

Charge RN for FBP will assist with administering, directing and coordinating activities of the Unit. Will also perform duties as staff RN. FBP Labor and Delivery is a 16-bed unit with a 2-bed triage, that offers both inpatient and outpatient service to pregnant and postpartum women of all ages and newborns from 32 weeks' gestation through 60 days of age if appropriate for nursery. The unit has 5 labor and delivery rooms and one OR and PACU, and 11 postpartum/mother baby rooms and an 8 bed Level 2 NICU. We take a team approach to care in Family Birthplace. Schedule: Evenings/Nights/Rotating weekends

Requirements

  • State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program.
  • 1 year experience in the specific department or clinical area, or experience in a similar area of clinical practice
  • BLS through the American Heart Association with card in-hand before start date.
  • ACLS through the American Heart Association with card in-hand before start date.
  • PALS through the American Heart Association with card in-hand before start date or obtained with 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates patient care and workflow, by maintaining an overall perspective of the flow, acuity, and needs of the department.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, problem solving skills, with the ability to arrive at creative solutions to issues presented.
  • Makes unit assignments for patients/rooms and assures that staff workload is appropriate.
  • Monitors unit activities to assure compliance with policies and procedures, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as clinical resource to staff and assists with clerical duties as needed.
  • Provides direct patient care
  • Serves as interdepartmental liaison
  • Assists with staffing and cost-effective resource management
  • Oversees provision of bedside report and patient rounding per unit/department protocols.
  • Duties of CCU RN, providing direct patient care.
