About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team as a Charge Nurse at their Fort Smith Family Medical Center. In this role, the Charge Nurse will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Patient and Family-Centered Care within the clinic. This includes overseeing the nursing and clinical team, managing patient flow processes, and promoting wellness, improved outcomes, and self-care among a defined patient population. The Charge Nurse will also provide support, education, and assistance to patients with chronic conditions to help them prevent and maintain their health. This position works with the Clinic Service Manager (CSM) in the daily operations and supervision of the clinic and staff. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Minimum of one (1) year Registered Nursing experience.
  • Will consider RN with two (2) years of LPN clinical experience.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
  • Understanding basic medical terminology is necessary.

  • Charge RN or Leadership experience.
  • Clinic or Ambulatory Setting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Patient and Family-Centered Care within the clinic.
  • Overseeing the nursing and clinical team.
  • Managing the patient flow processes.
  • Promoting wellness, improved outcomes, and self-care among a defined patient population.
  • Providing support, education, and assistance to patients who have chronic conditions, helping them prevent and maintain their health.
  • Working with the CSM in the daily operations and supervision of the clinic and staff.
  • Assist with scheduling, payroll, staffing issues, communication between staff and providers, clinical/nursing staff education and training, policy compliance and maintaining quality measures.
  • Triage, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and patient education either by telephone or within the UAMS Clinic.
  • Delivers nursing care according to standards as defined by UAMS, American Nurses Association (ANA), AR State Board of Nursing (ASBN), and those set forth by nursing specialty organizations.
  • Coordinates care and/or follow-up for patients who receive care in inpatient and outpatient facilities.
  • Implements patient care using an approach that is interdisciplinary and Patient and Family-Centered Care.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • May perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of UAMS.
