About The Position

The Registered Nurse (Internal Medicine Clinic) is responsible for promoting wellness, improving outcomes, and self-care within a defined patient population. The RN will provide patients with chronic conditions the necessary support, education, and assistance in the prevention and/or maintenance of their disease and/or health and wellness state. This role involves working with individual patients, their families, and providers to develop and implement individual health plans, and offering support for patient self-management. The position also includes coordinating care and/or follow-up for patients receiving care in outpatient facilities, and managing prescription refill requests and patient education coordination in collaboration with physician staff. A commitment to patient outcomes is essential, resulting in high levels of performance despite workload changes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Minimum of 1 year Registered Nursing experience
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of RN experience, including 2 years in a clinical environment.
  • 2 years of Internal Medicine experience
  • Prefer ACLS certification or obtain certification within one year of hire date.
  • Knowledge or experience in PCMH is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard.
  • Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.
  • Evaluates patients' progress toward the attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Administers medication following department/unit standards and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family-centered care principles, practice standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports integrating current evidence into nursing practice.
  • Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicates care appropriately through medical record documentation.
  • Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means.
  • Participates in the recruitment/retention of staff.
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
