About The Position

Glenmont Job Corps Center is seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Education & Training Team as an RN Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor. This role involves using real-world nursing experience to teach young adults the skills, professionalism, and confidence needed to become Certified Nursing Assistants and begin careers in healthcare. The position is described as part nurse educator, part hands-on skills trainer, part mentor, and part career coach. The instructor will be responsible for managing the complete learning experience, from developing lesson plans and teaching classroom curriculum to coordinating hands-on and clinical learning experiences. The role also involves preparing students for real patient care, maintaining program standards, and preparing students for certification and employment, all subject to New York State Education Department (NYSED) approval and requirements.

Requirements

Current and active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Associate Degree in Nursing or higher.
At least two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
At least one (1) year of nursing experience in a nursing home providing care to elderly and/or chronically ill residents.
Documentation showing completion of at least one of the following: Certification to teach nurse aides; OR A trade school teacher license for nurse aide instruction; OR At least two (2) years of experience teaching nursing or nursing-related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education; OR At least two (2) years of experience teaching nurse aides in a nursing home setting; OR Successful completion of a professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners.
Minimum of one (1) year of teaching or related experience.
Appropriately certified, licensed, or accredited in New York State, as applicable to the position, or accredited by an appropriate professional trade organization.
Meet all applicable instructor and program requirements, including any required New York State Education Department (NYSED) approval.
Possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements.
Able to perform the physical functions necessary to safely demonstrate and supervise CNA skills, including lifting up to 40 pounds when required.

Responsibilities

Developing lesson plans to support the required CNA curriculum.
Teaching the CNA curriculum, including classroom instruction and hands-on skills training.
Coordinating classroom, laboratory, hands-on, and clinical portions of student training.
Preparing students for real patient care by demonstrating clinical skills, supervising practice, and providing feedback.
Maintaining program standards consistent with Job Corps and New York State requirements.
Preparing students for certification and employment by developing their knowledge, clinical skills, professionalism, and confidence.
Planning instruction and organizing instructional activities.
Demonstrating clinical skills safely and correctly.
Coaching students during practice and providing constructive feedback.
Teaching healthcare concepts in an understandable way for beginners.
Coordinating students' classroom and clinical experiences.
Monitoring student progress and identifying areas needing additional instruction.
Maintaining accurate training documentation.
Supporting program compliance with applicable requirements.
Preparing students for certification exams and employment.
