About The Position

Work Schedule: 90% FTE, evening/night shift. (3) three (12) twelve-hour shifts. Every third weekend rotation. Hours are based off the operational needs of the department. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI. We are seeking a Charge Nurse / Care Team Leader (CTL) that will: Serve as a clinical leader, mentor, and trusted resource for nursing staff while providing direct care for patients with complex acute surgical conditions Partner with unit leadership on hiring decisions, patient experience initiatives, and quality improvement projects that enhance patient care and team performance Collaborate with a highly skilled, compassionate team to care for high-acuity patients on our 28-bed Acute Care General Surgery Unit Provide expert post-operative care for patients recovering from complex abdominal surgeries involving the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas (including Whipple procedures), gallbladder, and bile ducts Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that supports professional growth through continuing education, specialty certification, mentorship, and leadership development Contribute to innovative, evidence-based practice by participating in research studies and implementing the latest therapies to improve patient outcomes At UW Health, you will have: An excellent benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, two-week paid parental leave and adoption assistance. Requirements

2 years experience in an inpatient unit
2 years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of two (2) years’ experience in an inpatient unit
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact
Current CPR/BLS certification
Must possess a current, valid driver’s license issued by the individual’s state of residence.
Must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience to operate a Personal Vehicle, Patient/Visitor Vehicle, or standard UW Health Fleet Vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
3 years experience in an acute care inpatient unit
Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population
National certification in relevant specialty
