About The Position

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus where research and surgery are advanced, technology is leading-edge, patient care is world class and caregivers are family. Here, you will work alongside a passionate and dedicated team, receive endless support and appreciation, and build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world. J51 and J53 are dynamic Cardiothoracic Stepdown Units dedicated to caring for patients recovering from advanced cardiac procedures. These 24-bed units feature all private rooms equipped with bedside monitoring and telemetry, supporting a high level of patient observation and safety. The primary focus is on post–open heart surgery patients transitioning from the ICU, along with specialized care for individuals with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs)—a service offered exclusively on select stepdown units (J51, J53, and J62). This environment offers nurses the opportunity to work closely with complex cardiac cases while building strong clinical expertise. As part of a broader network of cardiovascular telemetry units (J51, J53, J61, J62, and J63), these units provide care for a diverse range of cardiac and surgical patients. From coronary artery bypass and valve repair to minimally invasive and robotic procedures, caregivers are exposed to innovative treatments and evolving technologies. Additional patient populations include those with heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-device implantation such as pacemakers or defibrillators. The fast-paced setting fosters professional growth, critical thinking, and hands-on experience with cutting-edge cardiac care. Nurses on these units are supported by a highly collaborative team environment that includes RNs, LPNs, PCNAs, assistant nurse managers, and multidisciplinary medical staff. With a typical patient ratio of 4–5 per RN, caregivers are able to deliver attentive, patient-centered care while contributing to education, discharge planning, and community outreach initiatives. Known for their strong teamwork and welcoming culture, J51 and J53 provide an ideal setting for both new and experienced nurses seeking to advance their careers in cardiovascular care.
