As a New Grad RN Resident in these specialized units, you will play a vital role in promoting positive patient outcomes by utilizing innovative, evidence-based technologies and best practices. You will foster meaningful connections with patients, families, and visitors, enhancing their care experience through compassionate education, advocacy, and support. Our Stepdown/Progressive Care Units Include: Cardiothoracic Surgery Stepdown Units – J51, J53, J61, J62 and J63 Thoracic Surgery Stepdown – J52 Cardiovascular Medicine Stepdown Units – J71, J72 and J73 Vascular Surgery Stepdown – J81 Heart/Lung Transplant Stepdown Unit – J82 1921 Suites: Cardiac Stepdown Unit – J83

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients’ medical records.
