This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Cardio-Pulmonary unit, which is an inpatient unit. The unit has 50 beds, divided into two sides (A and B), and primarily cares for adult cardiac patients (including those with cardiac drips and post-cardiac procedures), pulmonary patients, and medical-surgical overflow patients with various diagnoses. The unit is fast-paced and deals with medically complex patients, requiring strong communication and teamwork, especially with the Heart and Vascular Institute procedural area. New and experienced team members collaborate to drive patient care initiatives and promote inclusion. The role involves frequent use of skills such as head-to-toe assessments, managing cardiac drips, interrogating cardiac devices, pre- and post-procedural care (cardiac catheterization, pacemaker/ICD placement, ablation, revascularization), administering medications, and communicating with interdisciplinary teams. Equipment used includes IV pumps, wound vacs, telemetry monitoring, tube feeding pumps, Zoll defibrillators, and electronic EMR. Basic BLS is required within 30 days of hire, and ACLS within one year.
