About The Position

Edward Hospital is offering a new Critical Care Nurse Transition Program for experienced acute care nurses seeking to move into Critical Care Nursing. This program includes 8-12 weeks of training with a critical care nurse preceptor and 8 weeks of dedicated education time. Limited spots are available for the Medical-Surgical ICU and Cardiac-Neuro ICU.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
  • If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date.
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
  • Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing
  • Completion of ECG monitoring course
  • ACLS certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification
  • 2 years of inpatient RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional nursing care in accordance with the Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Practice Act, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Employs critical thinking skills, assesses patients’ condition, recognizes changes, plans and evaluates care, monitors patients’ progress, and records pertinent observations.
  • Delegates appropriate patient care tasks to other staff.
  • Functions as a team member to fulfill unit goals.
