About The Position

Edward Hospital is offering a new Critical Care Nurse Transition Program for experienced acute care nurses seeking to move into Critical Care Nursing. This program includes 8-12 weeks of training with a critical care nurse preceptor and 8 weeks of dedicated education time. Limited spots are available for the Medical-Surgical ICU and Cardiac-Neuro ICU.

Requirements

Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date.
Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Minimum 1 year of inpatient RN experience

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing
Completion of ECG monitoring course
ACLS certification
NIH Stroke Scale certification
2 years of inpatient RN experience

Responsibilities

Provides professional nursing care in accordance with the Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Practice Act, and hospital policies and procedures.
Employs critical thinking skills, assesses patients’ condition, recognizes changes, plans and evaluates care, monitors patients’ progress, and records pertinent observations.
Delegates appropriate patient care tasks to other staff.
Functions as a team member to fulfill unit goals.
