About The Position

The RN Cardiac Cath Lab provides compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients receiving invasive, diagnostic, and interventional procedures in the catheterization lab. The role involves working with patients and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to assess health needs, plan and deliver individualized care, educate and support patients and their families, and evaluate responses to treatment. The nurse also promotes patient safety, quality care, best practices, and process improvement while supporting the organization’s mission, vision, and values. This is a full-time day-shift position, Monday through Friday. Typical hours are 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call is required, roughly seven days per month or less.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Associate’s degree required at hire; bachelor’s degree required within 24 months of hire into an RN position for employees hired after June 1, 2012.
Current RN licensure in Texas or a compact license.
Current BLS certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
ACLS certification required within one year of hire or transfer into the position, issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
At least one year of experience in an acute-care hospital within the last three years.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a catheterization lab and/or working with cardiac patients is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess patients’ health status and needs by interpreting health data and collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care through a systematic approach and comprehensive nursing assessments.
Develop nursing care plans based on nursing diagnoses and identified problems.
Implement nursing care within the RN’s scope of practice and applicable laws.
Develop and implement patient teaching plans focused on health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
Provide education, emotional support, and age-specific care to patients and significant others.
Provide care for multiple patients directly or through assignment and delegation to other healthcare team members.
Evaluate patient and family responses and outcomes to therapeutic interventions.
Use critical thinking, clinical data, and current literature to inform nursing decisions.
Maintain accountability for the quality, continuity, and coordination of nursing care across care settings.
Advocate for patients and direct care to promote safety in the clinical practice environment.
Use information management and effective communication in daily practice.
Promote quality healthcare and services for patients.
Participate in and lead best practices, department initiatives, and process improvement activities.
Build on ANA Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Practice.
Support the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Perform other duties as assigned.
