About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care as an RN. This professional nursing role will require the ability to coordinate care for patients, triage patients, and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Requires the ability to effectively work with patient referral sources, facilitate appointments, coordinate transitions of care, and provide patient education on complex conditions. The RN will work with the individual patient, their families, and providers of care to develop and implement individual health plans.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an associate degree.
  • Valid RN License.
  • Minimum of 1 years of Registered Nursing experience.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Strong computer and typing skills.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Knowledge or experience in PCMH.
  • ACLS certification or obtain certification within one year of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical information for all 3rd party payers (Commercial Insurance, Medicaid).
  • Develops and maintains knowledge base of pharmaceutical companies policies and procedures, third party payer requirements, and any changes that impact the approval process; maintains current knowledge of all federal and state regulatory mandates and requirements including but not limited to Insurance regulation and requirements, Medicare, Medicaid.
  • Successfully completes annual competency test and any additional competency testing required to validate required skills.
  • Performs retroactive reviews when necessary to verify medical necessity of ordered medication.
  • Communicates findings of reviews verbally or in writing through designated channels in a timely manner.
  • Acts as resource to provide information /education to UAMS staff on prior authorization review issues.
  • Participates in and contributes to departmental, hospital, and community in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Stays current in trends in the industry by referencing of professional literature or publications, including Web-based information.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Joint Commission guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
