About The Position

The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center, Central Oregon’s largest privately-owned Cancer Care and Research Center is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Navigator to join our multidisciplinary breast care team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with breast surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists to provide personalized, seamless care for patients throughout their breast health journey—from diagnosis and surgery to treatment and survivorship. As a key advocate and guide, you will help patients navigate complex medical decisions, identify and address barriers to care, and ensure smooth transitions across all phases of treatment. Your expertise will empower patients with the education, resources, and emotional support they need to feel confident and cared for every step of the way. This position aligns with the standards set by the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC) and recognizes the Breast Health Clinical Navigator (BHCN) Certification as a benchmark of excellence in breast care navigation. Putting our patients above all is at the core of WVCI’s mission, this position will mainly support the Oregon Surgical Wellness clinic in Springfield, Oregon. The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $42-$67.00. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc. Employment Type: 1.0 FTE (40 hr/week) Benefits: M/D/V, Life Ins., 401(k) Location: Springfield, OR

Requirements

  • BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of oncology or surgical oncology nursing experience preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of breast cancer care pathways and multidisciplinary surgical coordination.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Committed to professional growth and continuous development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for breast surgery patients and their families.
  • Collaborate daily with surgeons and oncology colleagues to coordinate surgical consultations, preoperative planning, and follow-up.
  • Educate patients on surgical treatment, recovery expectations, survivorship, and integration with systemic/radiation therapies.
  • Participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary huddles.
  • Contribute to quality initiatives and program accreditation (NAPBC, CoC).
  • Engage in community outreach on breast health, early detection, and prevention.
