About The Position

The Birthing Center, located on the first floor at Freeman Hospital West, offers private labor, delivery, and recovery rooms with a variety of labor options for patients. As one of the busiest maternity centers in Missouri, it provides family-centered care and individual attention in a warm, caring environment. The center includes 9 labor suites, 1 triage room, 2 operating rooms, and 2 recovery bays. The team consists of board-certified obstetricians, highly skilled physicians, midwives, nursing and lactation teams, and anesthesia staff, available 24 hours a day. The center delivers over 1,700 babies annually.

Requirements

• Must participate in all available and applicable Fetal Monitoring courses.
• Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse's state of residence.
• If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.
• AHA ACLS within 180 days.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 30 days.
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 365 days.
• Maternal/Child Competency Day annually by transcript due date.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• In conjunction with the medical plan of care, independently performs systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families.
• Plans and implements appropriate interventions.
• Evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner in the provision of safe and effective care.
