About The Position

This is a leadership opportunity in our surgical tower, specializing in Ortho, Neuro, and Vascular patients. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides professional nursing services, leadership of nursing staff, leadership within the organization, and management of operational processes to serve patients and their families and/or serve the nursing department. They collaborate with other health care providers and health care team members to achieve expected patient and organization outcomes, with a focus on improving the care environment. Nurse leaders and managers use the nursing process, leadership and management theory, and evidence-based nursing practice to coordinate and provide direct care and services. All positions operate within five core performance domains: Clinical Practice, Service Excellence, Professional Development and Communication/Behaviors, Research and Evidence Based Practice, and Organization Contributions and Growth. The Level IV Assistant Nurse Manager is accountable for supporting standards of care and providing consultation and expertise in patient care delivery. They are involved in activities at the unit, service, nursing department, and institutional level, contributing to goal achievement through personal action and facilitation of others. The ANM participates in community and professional organizations, promoting nursing's visibility and future. They provide expert patient care, serve as a resource, consult as requested, and role model effective communication. Additionally, they participate in human resource management, development and evaluation of recruitment and retention strategies, and monitoring of patient and operational outcomes. The ANM assumes expanded functional roles within the nursing unit as assigned by the Nurse Manager, including Education, Orientation, Precepting, Quality Management and Improvement, Business Operations, Safety, Standards Development, and Recruitment and Retention efforts. The Level IV ANM may assume an expanded unit role as available and assigned by the Nurse Manager.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years recent RN expertise in an acute care setting.
  • Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare providers preferred).
