About The Position
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the RN Assistant Director of Nursing assists in supervising nursing services and sets the standards of care to assure a professional, skilled program of care and treatment. This role ensures that each resident receives benefit that accounts for their medical, physical, emotional, and psychological needs. The position fulfills policies and objectives, ensuring quality nursing care as set forth by the Administrator and standards of the facility. The RN Assistant Director of Nursing supports and practices the philosophy, objectives, and standards of Caraday Healthcare and the Nursing Department, and directs the revision of these as necessary to ensure quality of care to all residents.
Requirements
- Current RN license
- CPR certified required; 30 days will be given to complete a course and get certified
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal and written instructions in English
- Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with residents and other team members
- Ability to complete assignments while having constant interruptions
Nice To Haves
- 2 years nursing experience in long term care/skilled nursing
Responsibilities
- Complete the Daily List on a daily basis
- Review all new admissions for accuracy and completeness
- Make rounds on the residents for which you are responsible daily
- Coach/mentor the licensed nurses under your charge
- Plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs.
- Answer call lights in a timely manner
- Be alert to resident's comforts and needs; answer their requests promptly
- Lift, move and transfer residents as required.
- Safely utilize equipment; report any equipment needing service or repair immediately
- Participate in emergency fire or disaster drills and other in-service training as scheduled; Must be able to safely ascend and descend stairwells and assist in an evacuation
- Maintaining regular attendance in accordance with facility absence policies
- Use appropriate workplace behavior and adhere to dress code at all times
- Complete assigned training on time and/or attend training classes when scheduled
- Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
- Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests
- Assist in ensuring nursing personnel staffing schedules are prepared and posted to maintain appropriate staffing levels
- Ensure attending physicians are given support by nursing personnel
- Understand and adhere to the guidelines of “Residents Rights” and assure resident safety
