The position involves collecting, analyzing, and managing data, as well as directing, supervising, and evaluating the work of various personnel including medical, nursing, technical, clerical, service, and maintenance staff. Communication is key, involving interaction with governing boards, medical staff, and department heads, attending board meetings, and coordinating interdepartmental functions. The role demands the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Nursing Services department. This includes recruiting, selecting, hiring, training, evaluating, counseling, and supervising Nursing staff. The position requires reviewing and analyzing facility activities and data to support planning, cash and risk management, and to improve service utilization. It also involves planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, establishing benchmarks, and directing professional and non-professional staff. Maintaining awareness of advancements in medicine, technology, regulations, insurance changes, and financing options is crucial. The role includes monitoring the use of diagnostic services, inpatient beds, facilities, and staff to ensure efficient resource utilization and to assess needs for additional staff, equipment, and services. Developing and maintaining computerized record management systems for data storage, processing, and report generation is also a responsibility. The position requires preparing activity reports for management on program status and implementation plans, and inspecting facilities to recommend modifications for emergency readiness, safety, access, and sanitation compliance. Developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures for the facility or medical unit, and consulting with medical, business, and community groups to address service issues, respond to community needs, enhance public relations, coordinate activities, and promote health programs are essential. The role involves developing instructional materials and conducting educational programs, as well as developing or expanding medical programs or health services that promote research, rehabilitation, and community health. Effective communication with physicians, Nursing staff, and other personnel is vital. Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines for long-term care facilities is required. Leadership ability and a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise personnel are necessary. Understanding and adhering to company policies, including harassment and complaint procedures, is mandatory. The role includes assisting in resident evacuation, assigning appropriate levels of CNAs and LPNs per shift, directing care provided by Nursing staff, and providing direct nursing care as needed. Concentration, reasoning skills, good judgment, and critical thinking are essential, as is the ability to communicate and function within an interdisciplinary team.
