The Assistant Clinical Manager coordinates the operations of the patient care area for the shift and manages the patient flow. The Assistant Clinical Manager applies nursing process and theories, as well as principles of psycho-social and physical sciences, in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying patient care utilizing evidence based practices. The Assistant Clinical Manager practices autonomously within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Bill of Rights. Participates in the hiring process, performance reviews and disciplinary process of team members on ACM respective unit. Strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Florida Nursing Practice Act and the Hospital/departmental policies. Ensures practice is in accordance with competency required for that area. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction). This is done through participation in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives. The ACM provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. In managing patient care the ACM will take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes. Effectively uses and role models current leadership techniques and theories, encouraging the decision-making skills of staff members and providing insight and leadership in complex situations. Ensures that information disseminated to staff is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed. Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures. Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
