About The Position
The RN, Ambulatory Surgery demonstrates proficiency in the fundamentals of the nursing process in a specialty unit. The nurse contributes to nursing assessment and care-plan development and participates in evaluating care within an assigned unit, department, or specialty area. The role shares responsibility with other health care disciplines and reports to the Department of Nursing Director. This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week on the day shift, with various hours. External candidates with at least one year of experience are eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse licensure.
- Associate's degree in nursing.
- Maintain certification according to the requirements of the specialty unit.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintained throughout employment at CGH.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Prior knowledge of drawing blood.
- Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
Responsibilities
- Ensure optimal patient care using the nursing process.
- Maintain patient records and documentation to accurately record medical and nursing care.
- Administer and control narcotics, medications, and IV therapies in accordance with the Registered Nurse Nurse Practice Act.
- Assess and plan patient and family education and discharge needs.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to emergency situations.
- Initiate, delegate, and evaluate patient-care team functions as part of problem solving.
- Promote an environment conducive to professional practice by serving as a role model and resource for other patient services team members.
- Practice nursing competencies based on current scientific knowledge.
