As an RN Ambulatory Infusion caregiver, a caregiver in this role will provide infusion therapy and headache treatments in an ambulatory setting. Responsibilities include assisting with IV placement, administering medications and continuously monitoring patients throughout infusions to ensure safety and effectiveness. The caregiver will assess and document potential side effects, promptly escalate concerns and collaborate with nurses and other clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care. The caregiver will maintain ACLS certification and apply appropriate interventions as needed. This role may also float to other rooms within Mellon and Main Campus to support clinical operations and requires teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work varying hours on a 6 week/48hr schedule. No weekends or holidays required.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of recent experience as an RN
  • Will consider LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience in substitution of RN experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area
  • Any registered nurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancer specific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe of the facilities accreditation cycle, if they work in medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer center or cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited Cleveland Clinic facility
  • Current demonstrated clinical competence

  • Prior IV experience and IV placement knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Assist with IV placement and Ketamine infusion therapy.
  • Provide continuous monitoring of patients during infusion to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Monitor for and document potential side effects, escalating concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with nurses and other clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) training and apply it as needed.
  • Potential to float to other rooms within Mellon and Main Campus to support clinical operations.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
  • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles within the department.
  • Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.
