Infectious Disease physicians diagnose and treat chronic and recurrent infections that may result from exposure to infectious diseases, organ transplantation, or surgical procedures. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off, providing professional nursing care to a specified group of patients in a variety of ambulatory care settings. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • In areas performing moderate sedation procedures and/or cardiac stress testing, must have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through American Red Cross Certification within six months of hire
  • One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two years of experience
  • Ambulatory experience (adults)
  • Strong LPN experience
  • Experience performing procedures at bedside

Responsibilities

  • Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment.
  • Perform telephone triage.
  • Notify physicians/LIPs of abnormal findings.
  • Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.
  • Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
  • Provide health education to patients and families.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document education to learning needs.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements, and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient safety.
  • Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identify annual core competencies.
