About The Position

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled PRN Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Psychiatry to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a behavioral health setting. As a key member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, you will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adult psychiatric patients while promoting safety, recovery, and positive clinical outcomes. In this role, you'll provide direct nursing care, coordinate treatment plans, collaborate with physicians and behavioral health professionals, and serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, and fellow team members. Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited academic nursing program (programs under conditional status may be approved by the system CNO).
  • Minimum ADN preparation.
  • State of New Mexico RN or Compact State Nursing License required.
  • Required BLS certification from AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult psychiatric patients using evidence-based practices and the nursing process.
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients' physical, emotional, and behavioral health needs while developing individualized plans of care.
  • Prioritize and deliver direct patient care in an efficient, organized, and patient-focused manner.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and leader by delegating patient care assignments appropriately and supporting nursing staff based on patient acuity and care needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, patients, families, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing interventions to support optimal recovery and wellness.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, discharge needs, patient rights, advanced directives, and informed consent.
  • Promote a therapeutic environment that fosters safety, dignity, respect, and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory, organizational, and professional standards.
  • Utilize strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills to support teamwork and continuity of care.
  • Maintain clinical competency in psychiatric nursing practices, patient safety standards, and specialized equipment used within the department.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes.
