About The Position

The Adult Blood and Marrow Transplant unit is an 18-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with oncology diagnoses admitted for stem cell transplants or readmitted for transplant complications. The unit also cares for patients with oncology diagnoses receiving specialized immunotherapy treatments. Key responsibilities include transplant care, managing central lines, administering chemotherapy, handling high-acuity patients, and providing oncology education. The unit fosters long patient stays, allowing for meaningful relationships with patients and families. There is continuous learning due to the variety of patient conditions and cancers. Exceptional teamwork is a hallmark of this unit, with staff supporting each other to ensure smooth operations across all shifts. The unit welcomes candidates passionate about oncology/stem cell therapy. Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing Required
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONCC) Required within 1 year

Responsibilities

  • Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
  • Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
  • Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Running, and maintaining central lines.
  • Administering chemotherapy treatments.
  • Managing high acuity patients.
  • Providing oncology education to its patients.
