About The Position

The RN Adult Blood and Marrow Transplant position is located on the 5 Center unit, an 18-bed Adult Blood and Marrow Transplant unit within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of patients with oncology diagnoses who are admitted for stem cell transplant or readmitted for transplant complications. The unit also cares for patients with oncology diagnoses receiving specialized immunotherapy treatments. Key responsibilities include transplant care, running and maintaining central lines, administering chemotherapy, managing high acuity patients, and providing oncology education. The unit fosters meaningful relationships with patients and families due to common longer stays. There are continuous learning opportunities due to the variety of patient conditions and cancers. Teamwork is exceptional, with staff proud to assist each other to ensure smooth shift operations. The unit welcomes candidates passionate about oncology/stem cell therapy. Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing Required
  • Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
  • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONCC) Required within 1 year

Responsibilities

  • Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan.
  • Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.
  • Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Specializing in transplant care, running, and maintaining central lines, administering chemotherapy treatments, managing high acuity patients, and providing oncology education to its patients.
