As a member of the interdisciplinary team, this role contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process. The position involves assessing patient status, developing individualized plans of care, implementing interventions, and systematically evaluating patient progress. Documentation, professional accountability, and continuous learning are key aspects of this role. The nurse will also be responsible for acquiring and maintaining current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice, promoting the professional development of self and others, and sharing clinical knowledge. Additionally, the role includes performing patient bedside lab testing, analyzing clinical situations, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and unit productivity. Effective communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy are essential. The nurse will also ensure patient safety, provide patient education, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Serving on unit-based councils and identifying practice problems are also part of the responsibilities.
