This position works under general supervision of physician, mid-level provider and/or nursing supervisor to provide nursing services in care and treatment of patients. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • 1 year of RN experience.
  • Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with Neuro patients.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN).
  • Professional Certification in a Nursing Organization.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, considering age-specific criteria.
  • Anticipates patient and/or family needs and expectations to develop an appropriate plan of care, utilizing critical thinking skills.
  • Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions, completing accurate and timely documentation.
  • Acts as a coordinator of the interdisciplinary plan of care, conferring collaboratively with healthcare team members.
  • Prioritizes nursing interventions based on assessment, promptly identifies changes in condition, and takes appropriate follow-up action.
  • Involves the patient in the plan of care and keeps them informed, explaining procedures and medications in an understandable manner.
  • Evaluates implemented interventions and modifies care accordingly, documenting accurately and timely.
  • Adheres to hospital and Department of Nursing policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nationally accepted standards of nursing practice.
  • Provides appropriate and timely answers and/or education to patients, families, and caregivers, documenting all education provided.
  • Welcomes and orients patients and families to the unit, encouraging participation in care and reviewing the plan of care.
  • Advocates for resources and support to enhance patient safety and unit/hospital initiatives.
  • Performs Peer Evaluations to provide constructive feedback and holds co-workers accountable.
  • Accountable for patient care and quality/safety initiatives.
  • Shares professional and technical information with colleagues and students, offering self as a resource.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
